Cotton Ball American Flag Craft
We love a good afternoon activity and my children especially appreciate those that include paint. This is a pretty mess-free project (all things considered!) that hopefully will offer you enough time to sit back and drink a hot (!) cup of coffee. All you’ll need is some cotton balls, red paint, and a blue marker and they can get to work! Click on this link here to download the free flag printable. We hope you love this craft as much as our family does!
AMERICAN FLAG LESSON:
If you want to add a little learning to this craft, take the opportunity to explain the following:
The American flag has thirteen stripes, 6 are white and 7 are red.
The 13 stripes represent the 13 colonies that originally made up our country. The first settlement came in 1620 on a boat called the Mayflower.
The American flag originally had 13 stars; 1 star for each colony. A new star was added every time a new state entered into the Union.
Today the American flag has 50 stars. Each star represents 1 state. Discuss which state you live in.
