Constitution Day Family Activity

Every September 17, we celebrate the day in 1787 when 39 brave men signed the United States Constitution in Philadelphia. It is the oldest written national constitution still in use today, and it begins with three of the most powerful words ever written: "We the People."

This free Constitution Day activity brings those big ideas right to your kitchen table. Your child will learn what a constitution is, why America's rules come from the people instead of a king, and what it means to agree on something together. Then your family will write and sign a constitution of your very own! Talk it over, choose the rules that make your home a happy one, and have everyone sign their name, just as George Washington and the Founders did.

Hang it on the fridge and read it together again each year. It's a simple, meaningful tradition that helps our children know and love their country, their history, and the freedoms we are so blessed to enjoy.
