American Flag Banner

I love any opportunity to make a project, especially one that we can hang for all to see! This was such a fun and simple activity to do with my toddler and older children to help prepare for the Fourth of July. You can make this as involved and detailed as you would like. We chose to just use the materials we had available and add a little pizazz with some blue gingham ribbon I had lying around. This was such an adorable project to make and my kids absolutely loved having it hung in our home!

Below is a list of instructions and materials. We have linked the materials that we used for this project. We do receive a small amount of compensation for any purchases you make using our links, as no cost to you. This helps us continue providing these free resources. Happy crafting!

MATERIALS:

Construction Paper
• White Crayon / White star stickers
Fancy Scissors (optional)
Gingham Ribbon (optional)
Twine

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Have your children cut the red construction paper in half length wise to make 2 rectangles. Have them do this enough times to fit the length of where you wish to hang your banner.

  2. Have them cut out enough blue rectangles and white stripes that line up accordingly. Glue everything together.

  3. Once dry, use stickers or draw stars onto the blue rectangle.

  4. Tape the flags onto twine. Decorate with a little ribbon if you so wish.

  5. Hang and enjoy!
