Adult American History Book Must-Haves

As we seek to teach our children about our country and inevitably begin answering the many follow-up questions (“why, why why?!”), I often find myself feeling convicted about the lack of historical knowledge I have to give them sufficient answers. Learning about our country shouldn’t be solely for the few portions of our elementary and secondary school curriculums; we should be life-long learners. We can never know too much about our great nation. There’s no better way to fall in love with your country than by knowing about it and the countless men and women who have sacrificed for its success. Below are a list of American history books that I would highly recommend to adults, like myself, who are seeking to grow their knowledge and love for their country.

I am working my way through Revolution currently and I could not recommend this book more. Teaching the detailed and often forgotten history of our nation through a Christian lens; this book is such an exciting and inspiring read. It is a very easy read, but absolutely filled with historical knowledge for the beginner and veteran alike.
